Alexander signs for Orient
Leyton Orient have signed striker Gary Alexander from Hull City.

The 23-year-old has moved to Brisbane Road for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The former West Ham youngster scored 23 times for Hull last season but has hit the net just seven times during this campaign.

Alexander has been deemed surplus to requirements by City boss Peter Taylor, who recently signed Jamie Forrester.

Peterborough United last week failed in a loan bid for Alexander but the permanent deal offered by Orient ended the player's 19-month stay at Hull.

"He wants to play for us and he's an ideal signing at this stage of the season," said O's boss Paul Brush.

"It's no secret that we haven't scored enough goals this year and Gary is a goalscorer who has a presence about him.

"If he hits form we know that there will be a lot left for us to play for this year," Brush told his club's website.

Alexander joined Hull from Swindon Town for 200,000 in August 2000.

That followed a prolific loan spell from West Ham at Exeter City.

Alexander is set to figure for Orient against Cambridge United on Tuesday.
