Ipswich midfielder David Norris could return to Roy Keane's first team by the New Year after stepping up his recovery from a knee injury.

Norris came through two 20-minute practice sessions at the training ground on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old sustained knee ligament damage during his side's opening game of the season against Coventry City.

Norris joined Ipswich from Plymouth in January 2008 and has made over 40 appearances for the Blues.

"We've definitely missed him and hopefully he may be available in the next few weeks," Town manager Keane told the club's website.

"He has shown a great attitude all through this recovery process and it will be a real bonus to have him back."
