Wadsworth under fire

Mick Wadsworth has seen his team win just five of their 23 league and cup games this season.
Wadsworth is determined to tough it out
Huddersfield boss Mick Wadsworth could come under pressure on Wednesday when he meets the club's board.

Wadsworth has vowed not to quit the job he took on in the summer despite the Terriers' recent slump.

But the former Newcastle coach and Oldham manager could have to answer some tricky questions about the club's current position.

Supporters reacted angrily to Saturday's home defeat by Swindon, which has left Town in the bottom three.

A group of fans chanted for Wadsworth's dismissal on the back of a run of just five wins in 23 league and cup matches this season.

Chairman David Taylor said the team's worrying form would be discussed at the Wednesday's meeting.

I am not going to walk away from this - that's not an option

Terriers boss
Mick Wadsworth
He told the club's website: "It is essential for the club that we stick together to resolve this situation.

"I am talking about the need for a unified stance, which is not a vote of confidence in the manager.

"I never give a vote of confidence for a manager.

"Too often you read stories about a chairman giving a manager a vote of confidence and then sacking them the following week."

Wadsworth, who has also been number two at Southampton and managed Carlisle, Colchester and Scarborough, was appointed in July following the departure of Lou Macari.

No money

Huddersfield finished in the play-offs last season.

But with no money to spend, the departure of a couple of key players and major injury problems, Wadsworth has found life difficult.

But he told the Huddersfield Evening Examiner: "I am not going to walk away from this - that's not an option.

"If other people make that decision then there's not a great deal I can do about it.

"But I've been in difficult circumstances before and come through them, and I'm sure we will come through this situation.

"It's very difficult for everyone at the moment, but nothing is forever. Things change and we have to make them change."
