Ferrell is a product of Newcastle United's academy
Gateshead have placed midfielder Andy Ferrell on the transfer list.
The 27-year-old has failed to cement a place in the starting 11, making just 17 appearances this season, including seven as a substitute.
He told the club's website: "I haven't enjoyed it this season, I've never had a run in the side. I haven't done myself justice at Gateshead."
The former Newcastle United trainee has played 32 games for Blue Square Bet Premier side Gateshead.
After leaving Newcastle, Ferrell went on to play for Hereford United, Kidderminster Harriers and York City before joining Gateshead for £3,500 in January 2010.
He was initially a regular in the starting 11, but slipped down the pecking order this season after facing competition from fellow central midfielders Phil Turnbull, Kris Gate and Ashley Winn.
I have got to look after number one and get a club that is right for me

Manager Ian Bogie said: "At this stage of his career Ferrell needs to be playing first team football and I can't guarantee him that at Gateshead.
"We haven't seen the best of him. There is a lot of competition in the centre of midfield and unfortunately he hasn't done enough to warrant a regular start."
Ferrell conceded that the decision to be placed on the transfer list was the right one.
"It's probably best to move on," he said.
"I'm a confident lad but for some reason I haven't been firing on all cylinders or been my normal self.
"I have got to look after number one and get a club that is right for me."
