Gateshead have signed defender James Tavernier and forward Joan Simun Edmundsson from Newcastle United on initial 28-day loans.
Tavernier, 19, made his Magpies debut against Peterborough United in the Carling Cup last season, and has made two appearances in total.
Simun Edmundsson, also 19, is a Faroe Islands international and a regular in the reserves at St James' Park.
The duo join Sunderland defender Michael Liddle on loan at Gateshead.
