Edmundsson joined Newcastle in the summer |
Three British-based players have been included in the Faroe Islands squad to face Scotland despite a lack of first-team action for their clubs. Forward Joan Simun Edmundsson has yet to play since the 19-year-old joined Newcastle from B68 Toftir this summer. Goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen, 24, has made one appearance while on loan to Tranmere from Manchester City. And Ross County defender Atli Gregersen, 28, has made just one appearance since signing from Vikingur. Brian Kerr's 18-man party for Tuesday's friendly at Pittodrie only contains five players who play their football outside their homeland. Christian Holst, a 28-year-old striker, is with Silkeborg in the Danish Superleague, while Rogvi Baldvinsson, a 20-year-old defender, plays for Algard in the Norwegian Second Division. The Faroes sit bottom of their Euro 2012 qualifying group but arrive in Aberdeen with their confidence boosted after taking their first point of the campaign, at home against an in-form Northern Ireland. They had lost their previous games to Italy, Estonia, Serbia and Slovenia. The Faroes have drawn two and lost six of their previous meetings with Scotland.
