Scotland will be lining up at Pittodrie in November for a friendly
Scotland manager Craig Levein will have the chance to work with his players next month when the national team take on the Faroe Islands in a friendly. The match in Aberdeen on Tuesday 16 November is quite a contrast to Scotland's last game, against world champions Spain at Hampden. Levein is looking forward to the match against the world's 133rd-ranked team. He said: "They're a well-organised unit under Brian Kerr and this match will be a competitive one for our squad." The Scots lost 3-2 to Spain in a thrilling match two weeks ago and now sit third in Euro 2012 qualifying Group I after one win and a draw from four matches. With the next Euro qualifier not until September 2011, though, the challenge for Levein is maintaining the feel-good factor in the squad after running their illustrious opponents close at Hampden. The Scotland coach now has the chance to do just that against a team that drew 1-1 recently with Northern Ireland in a Euro qualifier. | We look forward to playing at Pittodrie and appreciate that a lot of our supporters come from the north-east of the country Scotland manager Craig Levein |
He said: "I am delighted that we have managed to arrange this friendly against the Faroe Islands, which will give me another opportunity to work with the group soon after that memorable night against Spain at Hampden Park. "It was my original intention to arrange a B international but after initial enquiries by our football administration department, it became apparent that it would not be possible to arrange such a game. "We look forward to playing at Pittodrie and appreciate that a lot of our supporters come from the north-east of the country, travelling long distances to follow the team. "I hope that by coming to them, we can attract another large turnout in Aberdeen."
