| Friday, 8 November, 2002, 11:27 GMT Swindon 1-1 Tranmere Tranmere gained their first point away from home since the opening day of the season courtesy of a late goal from Gary Jones that earned them a 1-1 draw at Swindon. The 27-year-old struck as full-time approached after Sam Parkin's sixth goal in five games had given the Robins an early lead. Swindon's goal came about after good work down the right from on-loan Manchester United youngster Jimmy Davis, whose cross was headed in at the near post by Parkin. But Jones pounced with his first goal of the season to head past Bart Griemink following Gareth Roberts' cross from the left. Tranmere's Jason Price was stretchered off in the second half with a suspected broken arm. Swindon: Griemink, Duke, Heywood, Reeves, Gurney, Jackson, Hewlett, Robinson, Invincibile, Parkin, Davis. Subs: Farr, Edds, Willis, Miglioranzi, Young. Tranmere: Achterberg, Nicholson, Allen, Edwards, Connelly, Roberts, Mellon, Jones, Price, Haworth, Proudlock. Subs: Gray, Barlow, Harrison, Taylor, Howarth. Referee: F Stretton (Nottinghamshire) |
