Nicky Law remains calm about Alfeton fixture congestion

I have always found we are better when we play Saturday and Tuesday...It just gets the momentum going. We just need to get the momentum started!

Alfreton boss Nicky Law

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law says a crowded fixture list is inevitable but insists his side will not be fazed when the cold weather finally clears.

Two more postponements in the past week means that six of Alfreton's last seven games have been called off.

"A rush of games is going to happen sooner or later," Law said.

"I'm sure the players would sooner play Saturday/Tuesday rather than training twice in midweek. It is no more than we would be doing, just more intense."

Saturday's home league game against Gloucester City fell to a frozen Impact Arena pitch, and Tuesday evening's Derbyshire Senior Cup tie against South Normanton Athletic was also called off.

Law's squad now face four games in the opening eight days of January and five fixtures in the first 11 days of the New Year - assuming the cold snap subsides.

He added: "It won't make a massive difference to us.

"I have always found that we are better when we play Saturday and Tuesday and miss training on a Thursday. It just gets the momentum going. We just need to get the momentum started.

"It is the same for everybody though. We just want to get on with it."

The Reds are due to play away at Eastwood Town on Boxing Day and have a home game with Blyth Spartans on Tuesday, December 28.
