Kris Commons eager to resolve Derby County future

Kris Commons
To have a manager who wants you that badly and to have a player who wants to stay that much, you'd think they would sort something out

Kris Commons

Derby County striker Kris Commons insists he wants to stay despite being heavily linked with a move to Celtic.

The Scotland international's deal runs out in the summer and he could see his contract out and leave as a free agent.

But the 27-year-old told BBC Radio Derby: "There's been stuff going on for a good two or three months now, but I have no control over that.

"As for a football perspective, there is nothing on my mind other than playing football for Derby."

Rams chief executive Tom Glick has said the club are confident of keeping Commons and discussions are ongoing.

But until the deal is signed, speculation about a move away from Nigel Clough's Championship side continues to mount.

Commons added: "I think Nigel has been badgering the owners to get a contract written up and he says he is desperate for me to sign it.

"To have a manager who wants you that badly and to have a player who wants to stay that much you'd think they would be able to sort something out but we're just waiting to hear and see."
