Derby County future at out of my hands - Kris Commons

Derby County striker Kris Commons has said he wants to stay at Pride Park but his future is out of his hands.

The 27-year-old, who joined from rivals Nottingham Forest in June 2008, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Commons told BBC Radio Derby: "The decision is not in my hands. I'm sure I will be the last to know but it needs sorting as soon as possible.

"[Executive chairman] Tom Glick, manager Nigel Clough and the backroom staff have decisions to make."

Commons added: "Of course I do [want to stay] as it's one of the best places to play football and we are on the up."

Glick denied rumours of a rift between Commons and manager Nigel Clough.

"There is a good relationship between Kris Commons and Nigel Clough and that is why Kris has been available for selection this season," he said.

"Let me be clear, we are interested in extending Kris's contract but we are not doing it in the public domain."
