Wage demands delaying Kris Commons deal - Nigel Clough

Kris Commons
Commons joined Derby on a free transfer in June 2008

Derby County manager Nigel Clough says Kris Commons's contract demands are the reason why the striker has not yet signed a new deal at Pride Park.

The 27-year-old's current contract runs out at the end of the season and he has said he wants to stay.

But Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "We're doing everything we can to keep Kris.

"There is only one sticking point in contract negotiations and that's money. It's purely what we can afford and what his ambitions are."
