New Harrogate signing Trevor Benjamin scored a 25 yard free-kick to earn Town a point against Blue Square North leaders Droylsden at the CNG Stadium.
After Dave McTiernan gave Town the lead on two minutes, goals from Tony Gray and Paul Brown gave the visitors the advantage before Benjamin made it 2-2.
Town manager Simon Weaver told BBC York: "All the newcomers over the last 10 days have performed ever so well.
"It's a great feeling for me, signing someone like Trevor, and him showing a touch of class there at the end."
Weaver admitted he had no idea that Benjamin could strike a free-kick like that.
"That's what you get with older players sometimes who've seen it and done it. They claim the ball and want to take responsibility."
Weaver cited the opening goal as a good example of how the new formation and players have come together.
"We've set up the 4-4-2, it's an orthodox system. We've worked on it and I think we've got the personnel to make it work.
"Before we were getting steamrollered down the middle of the pitch.
"Now we have the right personnel in, people who've got plenty of league games behind them and helping the younger lads on.
"It bodes well for us for the rest of the season."
The loan signing of 19-year-old goalkeeper Arron Jameson from Sheffield Wednesday also paid dividends, as he pulled off a string of fine saves.
"I knew him from Ilkeston last season. He played three months and he was outstanding.
"Now was the right time to sign him up for a month and he's proved his worth.
"There's a growing belief that we could be on the verge of a decent team."
