Tubbs has scored five goals in four games for Salisbury
Matthew Tubbs scored a controversial penalty as Salisbury City edged out York to record a fourth win in a row.
Djoumin Sangare was adjudged to have fouled Tubbs in the area and the striker scored the resulting penalty.
Richard Brodie twice went close for York, hitting the bar after lobbing keeper James Bittner and then having a goal ruled out for offside.
Ryan Tafazolli was sent off on his home debut for a professional foul and Adam Smith missed a good chance to level.
Salisbury manager Tommy Widrington told BBC Wiltshire:
"Early in the second half I resigned myself to not playing good football, it was more a case of could we ride out what was coming.
"They were throwing not just the kitchen sink but the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom and the garage at us. But my young lads were fantastic.
"They are such a young group and they've never experienced anything like they have done for near enough the whole game here today. I'm absolutely delighted."
