Defty was one of the most popular players with supporters at The Walks
Ken Bobbins has denied claims by former King's Lynn striker Jack Defty that he was blanked by the club this summer.
After signing for Corby, Defty branded his treatment "a disgrace" after being told to call new Lynn manager Carl Heggs if he wanted to play next season.
Linnets chairman Bobbins told BBC Radio Norfolk Defty was not blanked.
"The club did contact Jack, and yes we did give him Carl's number like the other players, there's no way anybody's been blanked," he said.
Locally-born Defty played over 300 games for Lynn, scoring 90 goals since his debut in 2002, and Bobbins admitted he will be missed, and not just on the pitch.
"We'll miss Jack all round, we all think the world of Jack, he puts himself about, he's King's Lynn through-and-through, we understand that," he said.
But Bobbins is determined that Heggs will be able to start with a clean slate in the Unibond Premier Division next season.
"No-one wants Jack to go necessarily, he said. "But when a new manager comes in you have to give him free reign to choose and pick a team he wants, and a style he wants.
"Whether he wants Jack or whether he wants [Scott] Mitchell or Smithy [Adam Smith], it's got to be his decision."
