Truro squad to take 50% wage cut

Truro City

Truro City have had to temporarily slash players' wages by 50% after the credit crunch hit the Cornish club.

The Treyew Road side are bankrolled by property millionaire and chairman Kevin Heaney, but he has seen his fortune suffer during the recession.

The club's administration staff have also been asked to take a 20% pay cut.

Under Heaney's backing City have won three successive promotions and are currently third in the Southern League Division One South and West.

The club say they hope to pay the players the balance of their wages at the end of the season.
