Truro City beat Slough 2-1 at Treyew Road in their first match since being told they face a 50% wage cut.
City went a goal down after 16 minutes when Yashwa Romeo gave Slough the lead.
But Jake Ash equalised a minute after the break and Andy Watkins got the winner just after the hour mark to seal the win for the Tigers.
City stay third in the Southern League Division One South & West, three points off second-placed Windsor and Eton and five off leaders AFC Totton.
"I wanted to come out second half and keep a clean sheet and score a couple of goals and we did that so I'm chuffed to bits," City manager Sean McCarthy told BBC Radio Cornwall.
