AFC Telford United have denied making a move for defender Wayne Daniel from cash-strapped Stafford Rangers.
Assistant manager Larry Chambers told BBC Radio Shropshire: "There is no truth in the rumours.
"We've not had any contact with the club. We've got plenty of cover in defence, with Stu Whitehead due back in a month."
The Rangers board have implemented cost-cutting measures, including asking the players to take a pay cut.
The proposed cut in player wages has already resulted in several players, including David MacPherson and Carl Palmer, leaving Marston Road.
Former Telford favourite Chris Brindley was announced as Stafford's new manager this week after Steve Bull departed because of the club's financial difficulties.
