Marc Tierney had previous League One experience at Oldham
Marc Tierney has advised Colchester to look at how his former club Shrewsbury adapted to their move to a new stadium.
Colchester have struggled at home this season "perhaps due to the higher expectations people have of the players," Tierney told BBC Essex.
"Also, other teams breathe a sigh of relief at not having to come to a small ground with the crowd on top of you.
"At Shrewsbury it took a while. But we learned to relax and just play, so then you can make the place a fortress."
Shrewsbury have won seven of their 10 home games in League Two this season, having struggled there in the previous season following their move from Gay Meadow.
Shrewsbury will get promoted, but I wanted to move back up to League One now

Colchester have found the going tough at home following their own move in the summer, having won just twice - and this form is holding back any League One play-off aspirations.
"We recently went to Leeds and turned them over, so we've got a good side and good players here," said full-back Tierney.
"Once we get going at home, we'll be up towards those play-off places."
It is a month since Tierney's shock departure from Shrewsbury - initially on loan, with a view to a permanent deal come January.
He has proved a popular acquisition for the Essex club, and has no regrets about going there.
"Shrewsbury will get promoted, but I wanted to move back up to League One now - obviously I have played there before, with Oldham - and it was a challenge I couldn't really turn down."
