Former Oxford United star Jamie Brooks has signed for Oxford City.
The 25-year-old forward, whose professional career was cut short by illness, has moved from Abingdon.
City boss Justin Merritt made the approach after seeing his side win just once in their opening six Southern League Premier Division matches.
Merritt told BBC Oxford: "I am pleased to have him on board. He is full of quality and ambition and can open things up for us."
Brooks attracted attention from Arsenal before being struck down with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, which kept him out of football for 18 months.
After a comeback with Oxford United, he had spells at Brackley and Didcot Town, before his move to Abingdon United.
Brooks, considered one of the best talents to come through United's books in recent years, scored 13 goals in 33 starts for the Us.
