Stevenage signed off their Conference campaign on a winning note with a stirring second-half display to see off Hereford.

Neither side had much to play for at Broadhall Way with their safety already assured and it showed for much of the game.

But after a slow start it was the hosts who upped the pace, producing a late surge to take the points.

The visitors settled quickest and took the lead with their first shot on goal when Steve Piearce volleyed powerfully home.

But the setback stung Stevenage into life and they were unlucky not to equalise before the interval.

Rewarded

Hereford keeper Matt Baker reacted smartly to keep out Kirk Jackson's looping header after 28 minutes, but the player was rewarded for his industry in the second half.

After 61 minutes Jackson arrived unmarked to glance home John Hamsher's cross to spark the Stevenage revival and they dominated proceedings in the closing stages.

With 20 minutes left they forged ahead when Jason Goodlife thundered home Simon Wormull's cross.

And the points were secured five minutes from time when Jude Stirling drilled home the third from 18 yards.
