FA coach Kay Cossington encourages women's football
Kay Cossington, the FA's National Project Officer has said opportunities for girls to play women's football in Guernsey needs to be encouraged.
The former coach of both West Ham and Millwall said teachers and parents all have a role to play.
Cossington told BBC Guernsey: "The really important thing is to engage young girls in football showing them a good experience.
"The more girls that are playing the better it is for the game."
Cossington made the comments on Tuesday, at an event organised by the Guernsey Football Association to help safeguard the future of the women's game on the Island.
"We need to engage them into the sport," said Cossington.
"We need to allow them to go onto different exit routes into local clubs and organised football, to let them achieve and fulfil their ambitions."
