Islanders are being asked for their views on how football is run

The Guernsey Football Association is asking islanders for their views on the state of the game.

The GFA is holding a meeting at Rovers' clubhouse on Tuesday, 17 February to discuss the game's future.

"We'll be there listen to people so we can put these thoughts and ideas into our future plans," GFA chairman Mark Le Tissier told BBC Guernsey.

"We will listen to people. It's not a shut door at all," added county secretary Neil Laine.

And Laine admitted that not all the GFA's policies have succeeded.

"Some of the ideas we've brought in have worked, we openly admit others haven't.

"It's easy to moan about everything but what we really need is positive feedback as well. We'll take the criticism but we would like some ideas as well.

And he said with other sports, such as rugby and cricket, playing on an ever improving stage off the island, it is important that football continues to attract the island's best young sports people.

"Football's facing a lot of challenges, there are a number of other sports competing for our children at a young age.

"And we have to recognise that and we have to develop a product to which gives them some challenges."
