Football

Isle of Man captain Sean Quaye has been voted the Sure Mobile Player of the Year for the 2008/9 season.

The St George's centre-back led his side to a memorable league and Hospital Cup double this term as well as enjoying success with the Island side.

Island manager Kevin Manning said: "It's no surprise, he's an excellent player.

"He's a real all-round athlete who leads by example with great maturity and is technically excellent."

Peel's Kerron Christian, Old Boys' keeper Sam Halliday and St Mary's captain Frank Jones were the other contenders for the award voted for by the association's member clubs.

Meanwhile Corinthian's prolific scorer Jade Burden has won the women's award.

St John's striker Anthony Moore will collect the CFS Division Two honour after a superb promotion campaign.

In the 15/17 league Fraser Vaughan, of Ramsey Youth Centre, took the Division One accolade with the prolific Dan Hattersley of Castletown winning the Division Two award.

The accolades will be handed out at Friday's annual IoMFA awards night at Garey Moar, Union Mills.
