England women made to work hard
Women's Test, Delhi, day one (close): India 241-5 v England

Captain Mithali Raj's 78 and 65 from wicket-keeper Anjum Chopra helped India make 241-5 on day one of the one-off women's Test against England in Delhi.

After Raj had won the toss, Jenny Gunn gave the tourists an early breakthough by having Monica Sumra caught behind.

But the Indian skipper added 83 with Karuna Jain (40) and 49 with Chopra before falling to Rosalie Birch.

Chopra and Rumeli Dhar (32no) put on 67 before Beth Morgan removed Chopra and Harper bowled Asha Rawat late on.

"I think to keep them to around 240 was pretty good on that pitch. It was a belter to bat on so we were really happy, we stuck at it really well," Harper told ecb.co.uk.

"We said right at the start that we were going to have to be patient. Its not just going to fall into our hands, we have to work for each wicket we get and to get five of them was really pleasing."

She added: "Im absolutely shattered, Im aching all over. Ive never bowled 26 overs in a day before.

"Im looking forward to bowling again though, I got into a good rhythm today and really enjoyed it."
