Buttler has a batting average of 19.40 in Twenty20 |
Somerset are in the right shape to take on in-form Sussex at Taunton in the FP t20 on Friday, according to teenage wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. Somerset are third in South Group after an 84-run win over Kent, while Sussex are top with seven wins from their eight games. "We have some great momentum," the 19-year-old told BBC Somerset. "We'll get back into training on Thursday knowing that we are coming off the back of a brilliant performance." Sussex beat Somerset by 52 runs in the competition earlier this month. Buttler added: "Sussex are a very strong side and they're very good at Twenty20. Hopefully we'll be able to turn over the defeat we had at Hove." The youngster, who is proving an able deputy as a wicketkeeper-batsman while Craig Kieswetter is away on England duty, smashed 48 off 22 balls against Kent. He has been working on his game with ex-Somerset opener Jimmy Cook, who is now on the coaching staff at the County Ground. | Maybe I've just been taking the wrong options at the wrong times but I think I have a good game plan now for Twenty20. Hopefully I can push on from that innings |
"I've re-evaluated my Twenty20 game with Jimmy Cook and talked about just simplifying it and trying to get back to what I do playing championship cricket - it's really a matter of just watching the ball," he said. "Maybe I've just been taking the wrong options at the wrong times but I think I have a good game plan now for Twenty20. Hopefully I can push on from that innings."
