De Bruyn's 95 not out was his best score in Twenty20 cricket |
Zander de Bruyn hit an unbeaten 95 off only 49 balls as Somerset chased down 200 to secure a six-wicket FP t20 win over Gloucestershire. De Bruyn, who hit five sixes and eight fours, shared 106 for the fourth wicket off 46 balls with Kieron Pollard (54) to put Somerset in control. Peter Trego then joined De Bruyn to guide their side over the finishing line with seven balls to spare. Steve Snell had earlier top scored with 50 in Gloucestershire's 199-8. It was Snell's first T20 half-century and came off 26 balls, including three sixes and four fours. Hamish Marshall also chipped in with 45 as both Ben Phillips and Alfonso Thomas finished with three wickets. But the star of the show was De Bruyn who even outshone Pollard, who hit five sixes himself to help turn the match in Somerset's favour, on the way to making his best Twenty20 score. Vikram Banerjee suffered particularly badly, conceding 54 off his four overs, while Anthony Ireland went for the same number of runs but from a ball less.
