German newcomer Christian Hefenbrock has said he is looking forward to a successful spell with Somerset Rebels. He made a winning debut in the 58-34 Premier League victory at home to Berwick, scoring eight points. "I was really nervous but the team spirit here is unbelievable, as are the fans," said Hefenbrock. "I just wanted to do well for the team and help them to a victory. So to score eight points, which included a race win, was a good way to start." Hefenbrock was signed as a straight replacement for Lubos Tomicek, who was axed by the Rebels because of his poor form. Australian pair Cory Gathercole and Shane Parker weighed in with maximums against Berwick and are set to spearhead the Somerset challenge in Friday's Knockout Cup quarter-final first leg against Birmingham at the Oak Tree Arena. Meanwhile the Rebels and Birmingham will meet again on July 9 after being drawn together in the Premier League Pairs competition. Newcastle, King's Lynn and Redcar are the other teams in group 1 with Rye House, Edinburgh, Scunthorpe, Sheffield and Glasgow forming group 2.
