Bath amateur Charlie Cossins has taken a significant step towards earning a place in next month's Open Championship at St Andrews. He carded a 67 in the regional qualifying competition at Ferndown, sharing the top of the leaderboard with Newbury's Daniel Seymour. Cossins must now negotiate local final qualifying in Scotland on 29 June. Shane Winstone (70) and Curtis Edwards (71), two amateurs from Saltford, also made it through to the final stage.
