| Friday, 26 July, 2002, 19:57 GMT 20:57 UK Trego hits ton in tie Tour match, Taunton: West Indies A 370 & 266/7dec tied with Somerset 183 & 453 An extraordinary final day saw West Indies A tie with Somerset in their three-day match at Taunton. Chasing 454 to win after an overnight declaration, Graham Rose was caught off Chris Gayle from the penultimate ball of an amazing match with the scores level. Audacious cricket all day gave Somerset their victory chance.
Rose then slashed 32 from 28 balls, only to fall at the last hurdle. Needing eight from the last over, Rose appeared to have sealed the match. He had added 22 with the gutsy Matthew Bulbeck before Sulieman Benn grabbed the final catch. Promoted in the order, Trego, hitt 19 fours and two sixes in his innings of 140. Durston added 67 for the ninth wicket from Rose before he was clean bowled by Reon King. King was the pick of the bowlers with three for 90, with Gayle and Darren Powell collecting two scalps each. But the tourists fielding was far from top class. After Matthew Wood and Neil Edwards had fallen early to excellent catches in the gully and behind the stumps respectively, the West Indians looked like progressing to a regulation win. But Holloway was dropped twice and responded with 13 fours and a six, before playing on to Powell. And the innings set the match up for a thrilling finale.
