| Sunday, 23 June, 2002, 16:57 GMT 17:57 UK Walker guides Kent home ![]() Matthew Walker enjoyed himself against the West Indies attack Tour match, Canterbury: Kent 258-4 beat West Indies A 257-6 (50 overs) by six wickets Ed Smith and Matthew Walker masterminded Kent's six wicket victory against the West Indies A at Canterbury. Chasing a tricky 258 for victory Kent won with five balls to spare as Smith, 87, and Walker, 75 not out, found runs easy to come by against the young West Indies attack. Smith hit 10 fours and a six as he added 105 for the third wicket with Walker. Smith departed when he was bowled by Gavin Breese but Walker and Geraint Jones took Kent to the brink of victory. Jones fell with two runs needed but Walker completed victory as Dwayne Bravo bowled the final over of the match. James Hockley, who made a century in the C&G Trophy against Warwickshire last week, was the first to fall for 21, and when James Tredwell departed for 30 the tourists were in with a chance of victory. However, Reon King came in for some heavy punishment as Walker and Smith made the most of a good pitch. Earlier, a brilliant century from Runako Morton ensured Kent would need to score in excess of five runs an over to win. Morton marshalled a strong recovery after captain Daren Ganga was run out going for a second run on the first ball of the match. The tourists were 39 for two when Morton came to the crease and they soon slumped to 51 for three. But the Leeward Islands right-hander batted for the rest of the innings, finishing on 126 not out, off 133 balls, with 11 fours and four sixes to his name. Morton put on 97 for the fourth wickets with Dwayne Bravo (40). For Kent, James Golding finished with three wickets, but his 10 overs cost 58.
