The Guernsey Cricket Board have appointed Andy Cornford as the new senior island manager. The decision comes following a review of the coaching and management structures across the senior and development age groups. Cornford replaces Dave Hearse, who managed the side in two World Cricket League tournaments. Hearse will continue to be involved with the senior team, but will also work closely with the under-19 squad. Mark Latter from the Guernsey Cricket Board told BBC Radio Guernsey that the decision was made by all parties involved. "Following 2009, which was probably our busiest year yet, we took stock of where we were and in particular discussed it with Dave and Andy as to what they wanted to do." In 2009 Guernsey gained promotion from World Cricket League Division Seven after finishing second behind Bahrain, when the island hosted the competition, and finished third in the Division Six tournament in Singapore.
