 Andy Dewhurst bowled OVs into a winning position |
Rathbones OVs have won the Natwest Premier League after the final round of matches on Saturday. Completely dominating their match with Springfield, OVs had them dismissed for only 134 runs. The only Springfield batsman to make many runs was Dean Morrison with 42; Andy Dewhurst the best of the OV bowlers with four wickets for 25 runs. In reply opening pair of Ed Farley (75) and Peter Gough (59) reached the target with ease in just under 20 overs. In the other match, St Ouen who needed a victory to claim the title, lost by one run to Farmers Caesareans. St Ouen batted first making 229-7 off their 45 overs, Johan Nel (86) and Richard Baigent (92) with the western parish's runs. In reply Farmers scored the winning runs off the last ball 230-5. The loss meant St Ouen dropped to third overall with Optimus in second and OVs champions.
