Reddy helped Singapore reach their target with a 59 not out |
Guernsey lost their first match in the World Cricket League Division Six tournament against the hosts Singapore by seven wickets. Guernsey won the toss and decided to bat first and were all-out for 169 runs in 49.4 overs. Singapore reached their target in 32.3 overs for the loss of only 3 wickets. Guernsey team manager Dave Hearse said: "It's always very difficult to bowl when you've only posted 169... we've learnt a few lessons today." | The only thing of any positive note was young Tom Kimber who made 58 and batted very well |
"The Singaporeans had three good pace bowlers, bit quicker than what we're probably used to, but the spinner [Dharmichand Mulewa] did most of the damage taking 6 for 55," said Hearse. "It was a case of most batsman getting themselves out rather than the spinner getting them out. "The only thing of any positive note was young Tom Kimber who made 58 and batted very well." Buddhika Mendia Yange Oshan settled the Singapore batsmen making 66, after they lost a wicket in the first over. Narender Reddy Bonguram carried them to their target with a steady rate finishing 59 not out.
