Laura Bechtolsheimer and Carl Hester have won team silver medals at the European Dressage Championships.

Bechtolsheimer followed Hester's fine ride on Liebling II on Tuesday with a score of 76.64 on Mistral Hojris.

The 24-year-old said: "I'm relieved. He's probably the most honest horse I've ever ridden and I was desperate for him not to slip up.

"I had a nap beforehand and tried to keep my routine the same. I'm just happy I got it right for the team."

Holland took the gold medal, with Britain finishing ahead of Germany thanks to the efforts of Emma Hindle, who jumped into the top 10 from a late draw with a score of 72.94 on her horse Lancet.

All four British riders taking part have qualified for the individual and freestyle Grand Prix events later in the week.

Bechtolsheimer added: "All the guys who work in the yard at home are here, and my brothers were watching too so it's a special day."
