Optimus Cricket Club won the inaugural Channel Islands Premier League title despite losing the last game of the season on Saturday. The Jersey side finished on 318 points, 29 ahead of their closest rivals Total Cobo from Guernsey who amassed 289. Total Cobo could have claimed the title with a win but lost by three runs to Springfield. In reply the Guernsey side finished three runs short on 236-8. Cobo's loss gave Optimus the title despite losing to PwC Academy by a single run at FB Fields on Saturday. Academy made 253-4 with Tom Kirk top scoring with 142no, Optimus falling one run short on 252, Ryan Driver with 95 for the Jersey side. Despite the loss Optimus captain James Caunt was pleased with his team's performance. "Absolutely delighted with all the boys, everybody stood up and I'm just over the moon." Elsewhere, Rathbone's Old Victorians beat Argyll Investments by 5 wickets at Les Quennevais and St Ouen beat Marlborough Trust by 25 runs.
