Stewart spent his entire career playing for Surrey

Former England captain Alec Stewart believes Twenty20 cricket will soon be played in the Olympic Games.

Stewart, who made 133 Test appearances for England, made the comment as he visited Guernsey on Thursday.

Stewart said: "I think cricket will come into the Olympic Games in three or four Olympics time, probably under the format of Twenty20.

"It will become a global sport eventually, currently there are nine or 10 of the main countries playing."

While on the island Stewart attended a dinner, watched the island's Under-13s take on Dorset and held a wicket-keeping masterclass.

He said of the local players he met: "Those aged 11 and below were probably too young to remember when I played.

"It's easy to say I'll give something back to the game that looks after you, but because wicket-keeping is a specialist position it's nice to be able to see keepers.

"Whatever level you play at, from Under-10s right through to Test level it's a tough job, so if you can just offer a few tips, a little bit of advice and the players respond to that then it's been worthwhile."
