Jersey hope to keep cricket title

Jersey will be hoping to retain the Inter Insular title when they play Guernsey at the King George V ground this Saturday.

Jersey beat Guernsey by three wickets in Jersey last year and has an extremely strong batting line-up for this year's game.

Island coach Craig Hogan is pleased with the depth of his squad.

"It's a terrific squad that's been picked on form and there are players that missed out," he told BBC Jersey.

I still think it's really important; I've been here about four and a half months and it's all I've heard about

He added: "I'm sure we could have easily put another seven or eight players into this team and it would have been very strong as well."

With both teams now playing in the ICC World Cricket League and European cricket, Hogan believes Saturday's annual Inter Insular match with Guernsey is as important as ever.

"I still think it's really important; I've been here about four and a half months and it's all I've heard about."

"Even in all the junior competitions, we might be playing Scotland or Ireland and try to beat them, but if we are playing Guernsey, that's the one, it's the one we have to win, it's always a big game for us."
