Rain ruins Jersey U-15s title bid

Rain ruined Jersey's under-15 cricket team's chance of winning the ICC European Division One title in Scotland on Friday.

Jersey beat both reigning champions Scotland and Ireland during the week.

But defeat against Denmark in a rain-affected match and Scotland's win over Ireland saw Jersey finish second.

Team manager Chris Minty said: "We only came second on run-rate and, having beaten the top European team, we've shown we belong up at the top."

Jersey won the toss, elected to bat and were unable to get any momentum due to the constant rain delays, finishing on 126-8 after 34 overs.

And more rain meant Denmark had a new target of 101 in 27 overs.

Despite some excellent bowling from man of the tournament Ryan Evans (3-19), Jersey could not prevent Denmark from reaching the target with six overs to spare.

Final Positions

1: Scotland

2: Jersey

3: Ireland

4: Netherlands

5: Guernsey

6: Denmark
