Sportingbet Channel Islands Athletics Club men's team have qualified for the final of the 10 in 100 Cup competition. The competition entails 10 competitors from each club taking part in 10 events in 100 minutes. CIAC won their semi-final in Kingston with the help of fine performances from Dale and Lee Garland. Dale came first in the 400m in 47.90 seconds, whilst his brother was second in the 100m and 1500m with a time of four minutes 9.3 seconds in the latter. There were also strong performances from Jersey's Zane Duquemin, David Martin and Jason Fox. Duquemin threw 49.98m in the discuss to claim first position, whilst Martin put in a jump of 6.91m in the long jump to also take full points. In the high jump, Fox cleared 1.96m to secure another win for the CIAC team. Despite a valiant performance there was not such a positive outcome for the CIAC women's team who just missed out on a place in the final by finishing third. The women's team finished seven points behind the City of Portsmouth team who qualified in second. CIAC coach Andrew Winnie said: "There were some excellent individual and team performances by both the men and the women and I want to congratulate all the athletes who took part for doing so well." The final of the men's 10 in 100 Cup is on 8 August at Coptall in Barnet.
