Mark Latter has become the first full-time chief executive of the GCB
The Guernsey Cricket Board has appointed former Guernsey Cricket Association president Mark Latter as its new chief executive.
Latter heads the island's board as it begins the season as an associate member of the ICC and is hosting the World Cricket League Division Seven.
"I'm very excited by the appointment," Latter told BBC Guernsey.
"What it signifies is that it confirms the professional standing on which Guernsey cricket sits itself now."
Latter added: "The Guernsey Cricket Board is a company, we have employees and we have a pretty heavy income stream which is going to increase with ICC funding over the next few years."
And he told BBC Guernsey that while the board has good sponsorship deals with a number of Channel Island finance firms he is still open to more people or companies coming forward and helping to fund the sport in the island.
"Cricket's in a very healthy position but I don't think we'll rest on our laurels in terms of the way the world is at the moment with the economy.
"We're always going to be happy to talk to anybody who's going to be interested in getting involved in cricket from the grassroots right up."
