Gasgoyne shows his juniors how to play |
Jersey has won the 'Top 12' table tennis tournament in Guernsey. Craig Gasgoyne won the senior title, with 14-year-old Max Tupper taking the junior section. The tournament consists of the six best seniors and six best juniors from each island competing for the title of best Channel Island player. President of the Jersey Table Tennis Association Chris Band told BBC Radio Jersey it was the first time Jersey had won both titles. "We're absolutely thrilled, we swept the board," he said. "It had been a long time coming but all the Jersey players were magnificent." Gasgoyne, Jersey's table tennis development officer and head coach, was undefeated but had to fight the whole way in his match with Oliver Langlois before winning 3-2. | Table tennis in Jersey is hot property at the moment Chris Band President of the Jersey Table Tennis Association | Guernsey trio Gary Dodd, Phil Ogier and Langlois finished second, third and fourth respectively behind Gasgoyne in the senior section.
