Ferbrache drives to long on for his half century |
Guernsey's under-19 cricketers lost by four wickets against the United Arab Emirates academy side at the Sharjah Stadium on Tuesday. Guernsey chose to bat first and posted 210 in their 50 overs, with Ben Ferbrache hitting an unbeaten 69. The UAE batsmen made light work of their target, winning inside 39 overs after being helped along by 29 extras. "We need to sort out our issues with no balls and wides," said Guernsey coach Jeremy Frith. "It is the only area of our game we are disappointed with as we know we can do so much better." Guernsey captain Jamie Nussbaumer may have regretted his decision to bat first when Jonny Clark was dismissed with only one run scored. But Nussbaumer joined opener Will Thompson and shared a partnership of 79 to get Guernsey back into the game before both fell to the bowling of UAE captain Alwi Shukvi. The Sarnians were then grateful to Ferbrache for a magnificent unbeaten 69 which helped them survive their 50 overs and set the target of 211. The tour continues on Wednesday with a match against Sussex.
