Lawton won the English lightweight title against Martin Gethin in December
Stoke-on-Trent boxer Scott Lawton will fight Manchester's unbeaten John Murray for the British lightweight title at Wigan's Robin Park Centre on 13 June.
Lawton, the current English champion, was due to fight Gary Buckland in a British title eliminator on 29 May.
However, the 32-year-old has now been removed from the card at Fenton Manor to challenge for Murray's title.
"All I've ever wanted to be is a British champion. It's massive for me," Lawton told BBC Radio Stoke.
"John Murray is a very good fighter, but he's the kind of fighter that suits the way I box.
"We're fighting in Wigan, but I don't mind that. We'll take a few over there I think, and everyone knows how loud the Stoke fans are, so they'll make themselves heard.
"I've got a few ideas of how to beat John. As long as I use my boxing brain, which I have been doing in my last couple of fights, hopefully we'll see some good boxing and a victory for Stoke-on-Trent."
Lawton has lost only four of his 31 professional bouts, including a defeat by Jon Thaxton in his only previous shot at the British title.
Thaxton stopped Lawton in the seventh round in Norwich in March 2007.
