Boxing great Barry McGuigan says Commonwealth light middleweight champion Bradley Pryce can move on from Saturday's win over Andrew Facey.

Newport-man Pryce, 25, fought back from a difficult opening at the city's Sports Centre to make his second defence with a unanimous points win.

"Sometimes it can take fighters time to listen to their trainers, but Bradley's using his smarts now," said McGuigan.

"He knows he can fight and he can move onwards and upwards from here."

Pryce acknowledged that he had got dragged into another entertaining tear-up before extending his record to 23-6 (14 KOs).

I've been working on my right in the gym and that showed

"[Trainer] Enzo Calzaghe gave me a row, but I love being in a war like that and it was a good win," said Pryce, known as 'Sugar Sweet'.

"Facey caught me with some good shots, but I absorbed them and knew that I would come strong in the later rounds.

"I've been left-hand happy in the past, but I've been working on my right in the gym and that showed.

"When that is fully developed it's going to make me a real force."

The resolve shown by Pryce impressed McGuigan, who feels that the Welshman should target a European crown.

Bradley showed again that he can bite on his gum shield and come back

"Facey was unorthodox and tough and it was always going to be an awkward fight for Bradley," said McGuigan.

"He was hurt and tired, but showed again that he can bite on his gum shield and come back.

"He's started taking his professional career seriously and is realising what he can achieve.

"I think that Jamie Moore will win the European light middleweight title before long, then that could make an excellent domestic clash."
