Welshman Bradley Pryce retained his Commonwealth light middleweight title with a unanimous points victory over Andrew Facey in Newport on Saturday. Pryce was scored 117-113 117-112 116-112 by the three judges after a strong comeback in the latter stages.
Facey opened well and pinned his man in a corner for a spell in the fourth round but did not keep the initiative.
Pryce landed a crushing right late in the eighth and took control in the final three rounds.
"I love being in a war like that. It was a good win," said Pryce.
"There was a lot of pressure on me, and he caught me a good shot (in the middle of the fight) but I knew I would come strong in the end."
On the undercard, Gary Lockett beat Ghanaian Ayittey Powers on points but it was not for the Welshman's WBU middleweight belt.
On a successful night for Welsh fighters, Gavin Rees scored an easy eight-round points win over Chill John, and Barrie Jones beat Ernie Smith 40-36.
Kerry Hope scored his first stoppage in eight starts, halting Manoo Salari in two rounds, while Nathan Cleverley built his burgeoning reputation with a 40-36 win over Varuzhan Davtyan.
Tony Doherty opened well against Gary O'Connor, but sustained a broken hand and was left hanging on for a narrow points win.
England's Anthony Small stopped Belfast's Ciaran Healey in the third round before targeting a British light middleweight title.
Central area middleweight champion Paul Smith stopped Ryan Walls in the fourth round in a non-title affair.
