Gammer names a date for Williams
Scott Gammer
Unbeaten Gammer has not met anyone in Williams' class
British heavyweight champion Scott Gammer plans to face Danny Williams in Aberavon on 9 February.

Brixton-man Williams is the mandatory challenger and was due to meet Gammer at the Afan Lido venue last month.

He withdrew because of Ramadan, but Gammer's promoter Paul Boyce says the plans are all in place for next year.

"We have sent letters to the British Boxing Board of Control and Williams' camp confirming all the dates and details," Boyce told the Evening Post.

"It should be another good night for Welsh boxing. Scott is looking good and we are planning a non-title fight for him in London next month as a warm-up."

Unbeaten Pembroke Dock-man Gammer, 29, defeated Williams' stand-in Micky Steeds on points in his last outing.

That win, the first defence of his British belt, took his record to 17-0-1 (9 KOs) since turning professional in 2002.

Williams, 33, would be a major step up in class for the Welshman.

But it remains to be seen whether the former conqueror of Mike Tyson will take the fight.
