A British title chance could reinvigorate Harrison |
Pembroke heavyweight Scott Gammer could meet Audley Harrison if he wins his British title clash with Mark Krence. The undefeated 29-year-old, nick-named 'the Hammer', faces Krence at the Carmarthen Showground on 16 June.
If he beats the Chesterfield butcher, Gammer's manager Paul Boyce says Harrison's camp are keen on a fight.
"I fancy Scott to defeat Harrison, but first he has to beat Krence - if he can do that all doors open for him," Boyce told the South Wales Evening Post.
"I have spoken to Audley Harrison's people and they are interested in a bout with Scott if he becomes British champion.
"There is still an allure about the British heavyweight crown. It has a great tradition and has held its value in an era of multiple boxing governing bodies and titles."
Pembroke Dock-man Gammer has 15 wins (8 KOs) and one draw to his name since turning professional in 2002.
Krence, also 29, has 21 wins (6 KOs) and five defeats in his six-year professional career.
But he has lost his last three fights, and was stopped by Gammer in a previous meeting in Sheffield in May last year.
Swansea heavyweight Darren Morgan lost his undefeated record to Martin Rogan in Belfast on Saturday. The 29-year-old, a training partner of WBU cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli, fell to a distant 40-36 defeat against unbeaten Ulsterman Rogan.
