Lloyd Taggart claimed an emphatic victory in the Greeba Fell Race on Saturday, smashing Allan Gage's 1998 record in the process. Taggart took advantage of perfect fell running conditions, to complete the nine-mile course in one hour six minutes 52 seconds. "I felt really good and the conditions were really good. I am thrilled to set a new race record," said Taggart. Tom Cringle six minutes down in second, with Nigel Armstrong third. Jackie Lee was the first woman home and 13th overall in one hour 26 minutes 31 seconds. Sarah Curphey claimed second on her return to the Manx fells with Rose Hooton third. Eighteen female competitors were racing in a total field of 74 runners. The next round will see the introduction of the new Baldwin Valleys course on Saturday, 19 February.
