Manx runner Lloyd Taggart finished the 2010 fell running season with victory in the Dunnerdale fell race in the Lake District on Saturday. Taggart who claimed the English and British Over-40 Veterans titles this year, won the eight mile race by over one minute from Danny Hope. "It's a great event in a stunning location and I was really happy with my performance," said Taggart. The Black Combe race includes over 3,400 feet of ascent. In a terrific season, the 41-year-old also finished second in the open men's English Fell Running Championships and third in the British Championships, as well as dominating the island's calendar. "It's been a really good year on the fells. I was made up to win both the vet titles and disappointed that I just missed out on the others." Lee finished third in the English and British Fell championships |
"The English championship came down to the last race of the season, so hopefully next year I can go one better." The British Championships are held over four races and the English over six. Meanwhile, Jackie Lee finished second in the women's event at Dunnerdale, four minutes behind winner Lauren Jeska. Lee was also rounding off an excellent season after finishing third in the open women's English and British Fell Running Championship.
